In regards to

Multi-project artist rooted in the concerns of his time, Armel Dupas defines himself as a pianist-entrepreneur. He is much more than that: a great traveler, aware of the realities of the international music market as well as environmental issues, he declines musical creation from a reinvented jazz base to fuel well-being and spirituality in particular.

Attracted very early by jazz and improvisation, he was quickly identified within the French jazzosphere after brilliant studies at the Conservatoire de Paris - CNSMDP. His attraction for artistic diversity led him to multiply for more than 10 years the experiences of tours, concerts and music for cinema and theater. We can quote pell-mell his collaborations with Henri Texier, Arnaud Desplechin, Sandra Nkaké, Catherine Ringer, or the director Ladislas Chollat.

His work as a leader began with two remarkable albums: Inner Island, an album by the group WaterBabies, winner of the Tremplin Rezzo Focal Jazz à Vienne in 2013, which was succeeded by Upriver in 2015, released under the prestigious banner of the Jazz Village label. In 2017-2018, the Armel Dupas Trio travels the French and European jazz scenes thanks to the support of the Jazz Migration project which surrounds the release of the album A Night Walk.

In 2019, Armel discovers the pleasure of the solo stage outside the traditional circuits, building a tour of 100 concerts with the locals called Home Piano Live, which perfectly matches the release of his album Broderies, his biggest success to date ( + 2 million listens on Spotify). Performing more abroad than in France, Armel is preparing a departure for Moscow aborted by the COVID crisis. This is an opportunity to return to his roots in his Nantes lands, where Armel rediscovers life in peace, surrounded by nature and old accomplices. Home Piano Live becomes a live broadcast on YouTube where we play jazz for friends from here and elsewhere.

It was on this occasion that Armel met the musical drummer Christophe Piot, a chameleon musician and specialist in world rhythms. His Funny Grooves videos offer Armel a reinterpretation of his own compositions by juxtaposing piano and drums. The idea of a common project begins to germinate: an elegant and melodic jazz trio in which each of the musicians expresses his palette of colors. Jules Billé, a young double bassist still in high school when they met, brings groove and freshness to this trio. All 3 co-producers of their first album Lookin' Up, Armel, Jules and Christophe are enthusiastically embarking on their first tour in the spring of 2022.
